I Stand With Ukraine

24 February 2025 marked the third anniversary of Russia's full-scale unprovoked and illegal invasion of Ukraine, a conflict resulting in devastating human and material losses.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has reported that approximately 45,100 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed and 390,000 wounded since the invasion began.

Thousands of Ukrainian civilians, including children, have also lost their lives from indiscriminate Russian bombing and shelling.

UK Defence Secretary John Healey MP told the Sunday Times on 23 February that Russian military casualties are estimated at 860,000.

The continued aggression by Russia is a blatant violation of international law, and Scotland stands firmly in support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and its right to defend itself against this unprovoked invasion.

To achieve peace, Russia must withdraw beyond Ukraine’s internationally recognised borders and respect Ukrainian independence, backed by an overwhelming 92.26% of the 84.18% of Ukrainian’s who voted in their independence referendum on 01 December 1991.
