At Portfolio Questions on 09 January, Tory MSP Alexander Stewart asked a question of Minister for Public Finance & Digital Economy, Kate Forbes MSP to which he clearly expected a different answer. Kenneth followed by asking the Minister to confirm that when Council Tax Benefit was devolved, the UK Tory Government devolved only 90% of the required funding, leaving the SNP Government and local authorities with a £42 million funding gap. In her response, the Minister confirmed that, in a typical example of Tory bad faith when devolving powers, the SNP Government was once again forced to mitigate Tory austerity by transferring resources to plug this gap and protect the most vulnerable in our society.
