On Wednesday in the Chamber, Kenneth asked Minister for Rural Affairs and Natural Environment Mairi Gougeon MSP what the impact on Ayrshire commuters and the Ayrshire economy would be, should the proposal be implemented as proposed by Labour. The Minister confirmed that implementing the Glasgow Airport Rail Link as proposed in the City Deal, that would have a detrimental impact on performance and require the reduction of current rail services, the deferral of future service enhancements. She furthermore confirmed that the significant and high cost changes to Glasgow Central which would be required to accommodate the rail link, are currently not funded. This is an important point, as it would mean additional spend in Glasgow, to implement plans that would be to the detriment of those in Ayrshire - making it all the more baffling that North Ayrshire Tories and Labour are asking for exactly this to happen.
