On Tuesday, Kenneth participated in a debate marking the 50th anniversary of the Open University (OU), which was one of the world’s first successful distance-learning universities when it was created in 1969. The OU has empowered more than 2 million people from 157 countries around the world to pursue further education.
Kenneth highlighted figures published by the OU which showed 37% of their 210 students who live in Cunninghame North are from the 20% most deprived backgrounds in the constituency, while 52% are from the most deprived 40%.
