At SNP Spring Conference last week, Kenneth pledged his support to the Scottish Food Coalition’s campaign to make Scotland a Good Food Nation.
The Coalition campaigns to transform Scotland’s food system so that it contributes to everyone’s health and wellbeing, values the work to put food on our plate, supports high animal welfare, and sustains our wildlife, natural resources and environment for generations to come.
The SNP Government published its national food and drink policy ‘Becoming a Good Food Nation’ in 2014. The policy set a new vision for Scotland: that by 2025 Scotland will be “a Good Food Nation, where people from every walk of life take pride and pleasure in, and benefit from, the food they produce, buy, cook, serve, and eat each day.”
Public consultation results are currently being analysed as Scottish Ministers prepare to introduce legislation to this effect.
But it is not all about legislation. To find out more about measures that are being taken to make Scotland a Good Food Nation, visit https://www.gov.scot/publications/good-food-nation-programme-of-measures/ .
