Last Saturday, Kenneth was delighted to see Jim Pierce receive the Kilbirnie & Glengarnock Citizen of the Year award for 2019.
Together with his son Derek, Jim owns steel fabricator J & D Pierce (Contracts) Ltd which he founded in 1975.
The company is completely self-sufficient, employs 350 staff, almost all from the Garnock Valley, trains its own apprentices and recently invested £16.5 million in its Glengarnock facilities.
Jim, supported by his wife Anne, makes considerable ongoing contributions to the local community through sponsorship, helps fund and repair Kilbirnie’s Christmas lights and appears as Santa along with Archie Currie and Kenneth Gibson each Christmas at Santa’s Kilbirnie Grotto.
Jim was a popular choice for Kilbirnie Volunteer of the Year and is seen in the attached photo holding his trophy flanked by Kenneth, Anne and Councillors Donald L Reid and Anthea Dickson.
