Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will undertake an extensive programme of road improvements on the A78 Largs Main Street, commencing Monday 12 September until Friday 16 December.
These improvements represent an investment of £190,000 on the footpaths, carriageway, verges and traffic signals, benefitting pedestrians and around 10,345 vehicles using this route, each day.
The improvements include the installation of a new traffic light system at Fort Street junction with the Largs Ferry terminal. To facilitate this work, BT will move and reinstate their equipment at this location, commencing on Monday 12 of September until Sunday 18 September.
The footpath improvements between Bath Street and Crawford Street, will start on Monday 19 September and run until Saturday 14 October. The work will take place between 8am and 10pm, each day, under a series of daytime and evening lane closures.
Access to businesses will be maintained during normal working hours, with a temporary footway in operation. The work also requires the closure of adjacent parking bays for its duration.
The existing concrete footway will be replaced, and the kerbs renewed. The parking bays will also be reinstated.
The Largs Ferry signalisation scheme will commence on Monday 24 October and is expected to complete on Friday 16 December.
Work will take place from Monday to Friday, between 9am and 4pm, each daytime using single lane closures. The road will re-open as normal out with these times.
No work will be undertaken during school holidays (17- 21 October), public holidays, holiday weekends and when local events are scheduled.
Please note, all work is weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
