In the Scottish Parliament earlier today, I raised the latest delays to the return of Arran’s resident ferry the MV Caledonian Isles.
Having been told that the vessel would be returning to service in March, then June, CalMac yesterday announced she would not be back in service until August.
This leaves Arran, Scotland’s busiest network, without its main ferry for the entire summer and bearing the brunt of network disruption.
I asked the Cabinet Secretary how anyone can have any confidence in CalMac’s repair timescales with these constantly moving goalposts, and asked what practical steps will be taken to ensure potential visitors know that Arran is open for business.
