I had my blood pressure checked by Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland at SNP Conference last week as they sought to highlight the need to continue tackling some of Scotland’s most prevalent long-term health conditions.
Around 488,000 people are living in Scotland with asthma and COPD (Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) and around 230,000 have coronary heart disease.
To improve overall care for these and other conditions in Scotland, Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland work with the NHS system at a national and local level to ensure improvement plans are in place and are delivered across chest, heart and stroke.
Having one’s blood pressure checked regularly, followed by treatment if necessary helps avoid heart attack and stroke.
