BRITISH TRANSPORT POLICE: HELPING US STAY SAFE ON THE RAILWAYS

Everyone in Scotland has the right to feel safe when travelling by rail and both ScotRail staff and British Transport Police officers work day and night across the network to protect passengers.

Of course, anti-social behaviour, violence and sexual harassment can occur anywhere and it is important that members of the public know how to report crimes and feel encouraged to do so.

British Transport Police are celebrating the 10 year anniversary of the launch of their š—§š—²š˜…š˜ šŸ²šŸšŸ¬šŸšŸ² service, by reminding rail users that the can text the number to contact officers directly and discreetly, in order to report non-emergency crime.

The travelling public can also download the š—„š—®š—¶š—¹š˜„š—®š˜† š—šš˜‚š—®š—暝—±š—¶š—®š—» app which also allows you to report crimes and offers information on what to do if you see sexual harassment on trains or at stations. In a new update, the app also allows you to upload media evidence directly to it.

By using these vital tools, we can collectively make an enormous difference to British Transport Police interventions and intelligence gathering and ensure our railways are a safe place for all.
