Enquiries made by Kenneth Gibson MSP have established that as of October, dental practices across Cunninghame North are accepting new NHS patients.
After being approached by constituents, Kenneth Gibson MSP contacted Professor Hazel Borland, Acting Chief Executive, NHS Ayrshire & Arran to make representations.
Professor Borland highlighted that COVID-19 has severely impacted the delivery of routine care over the last 18 months, causing dental practices to have an extremely limited capacity to see NHS patients, which led to significant delays to treatment and appointments.
Professor Borland stated:
“Our Primary Care Dental Team are working closely with all General Dental Practitioners to support them to increase capacity wherever possible whilst continuing to adhere to national infection control guidance.”
Cunninghame North practices accepting new NHS patients as of 01 October are:
One Dental Care, 16 Wilson Street, BEITH, 01505 502632
One Dental Care, 12 New Street, DALRY, 01294 832524
One Dental Care, 2 Kirkland Road, KILBIRNIE, 01505 681551
Largs Dental Suite, 18-20 Aitken Street, LARGS, 01475 673415
Saltcoats Dental Practice, 27 Bradshaw Street, SALTCOATS, 01294 605155
West Kilbride Dental Surgery, 80 Main Street, WEST KILBRIDE, 01294 822434
Kenneth Gibson MSP said:
“Understandably, it is taken longer than anyone would like for many dental practices to approach anything like pre-pandemic levels of working. Nevertheless, many practices are both open and accepting new NHS patients.
“If you are not registered with a dental practice and you are currently in pain and require urgent access to a dentist, please contact the Public Dental Service Dental Helpline at: 01292 616990 so you can be triaged accordingly.”
