I met Kevin Hobbs, CEO, and Brian Fulton, Head of Business Support, at Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited (CMAL) in Port Glasgow to discuss progress with new ferry construction.
I was pleased to hear that the four vessels being built in Turkey are on course to be finished on time and on budget.
MV Glen Sannox will be available to passengers in Spring 2024, whilst the newly named MV Glen Rosa, will be ready by the end of 2024. Once delivered, this will provide a fully flexible year-round service for Arran.
We also discussed their Small Vessels Replacement Programme and their plans to replace MV Loch Riddon on the Cumbrae route.
The new vessels join the fleet thanks to £695 million of SNP Government funding for the years 2021-2026, progressing ambitious fleet renewal plans.
