Yesterday, England’s Health Secretary, Victoria Atkins, appeared on Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg.
Ms Atkins promised 100 new GP surgeries. Ms Kuenssberg pointed out that 450 have closed, along with 1,000 pharmacies in England - a third of the total - in the last decade under the Tories.
Ms Kuenssberg then discussed NHS waiting lists.
In all parts of the UK, recovering from the pandemic has increased the number of people awaiting NHS treatment.
In Scotland, this leads to relentless attacks on the SNP Government from the opposition. However, whilst the situation in Scotland obviously needs to improve, in England it’s worse and in Wales - where Labour have been in office for all 25 years of devolution - it’s very much worse.
In Scotland 690,000 people are on a waiting list - 12.7% of the population.
In England 7.54 million people are on a waiting list - 13.7% of the population.
In Wales 734,000 people are on a waiting list - a shocking 23.6% of the population.
Who can have confidence in a UK Labour Government to sort the NHS if they can’t in Wales?
The NHS is safer in SNP hands.
