I was pleased to attend the launch of the Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre.
This state-of-the-art facility is led by the Centre for Process Innovation (CPI) and their founding partners AstraZeneca, GlaxoSmithKline, Scottish Enterprise, UK Research and Innovation and the University of Strathclyde.
The facility will develop next-generation pharmaceutical manufacturing, solving the biggest challenges within the sector including its carbon footprint.
It has received £88 million in public and private funding and will attract an initial £200 million investment in the area, ensuing Scotland is a technology and innovation leader in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
The launch was addressed by Ivan McKee MSP, Minister for Business, Trade, Tourism and Enterprise, given the Scottish Government’s input, financial and in helping to establish the facility.
