This month, Endometriosis Action Month aims to highlight the real impact of living with the endometriosis.
1 in 10 women in Scotland of child-bearing age have endometriosis – around 150,000 women.
Often, those suffering have their symptoms dismissed or women feel that they wouldn’t be offered medical assistance and support. Campaigns are running throughout the month to improve endometriosis diagnosis and care across the UK.
Having campaigned for the establishment of a West of Scotland accredited endometriosis unit from 2017 to 2019 - following units previously established in Aberdeen and Edinburgh - I am delighted that women in North Ayrshire and elsewhere have benefitted from its support over the last four years.
The endometriosis Specialist clinic for the West of Scotland is based within Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and the Victoria Infirmary
