North Ayrshire Communities can now request the designation of a firework control zone

Firework Control Zones are part of a suite of complimentary measures that were introduced by the SNP Government aimed at encouraging the safe and appropriate use of fireworks.

The Fireworks and Pyrotechnic Articles (Scotland) Act 2022 gives councils a new discretionary power to introduce Firework Control Zones.

North Ayrshire Council officers have recently met with representatives from the Scottish Government, Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service to discuss the approach being taken at a local level.

If your local area or community is regularly affected by the misuse of fireworks or pyrotechnics, you can make a request for the designation of a Firework Control Zone by emailing:
