Earlier today I was delighted to attend the official opening of Lady Margaret Court in Millport.
Eighteen state-of-the art council houses were completed during lockdown following an investment by North Ayrshire Council (NAC) of £3.69 million. Of this, £1.26 million - £70,000 per house - was awarded in grant by the SNP Government.
The amenity bungalow development includes homes specifically designed for wheelchair users and general needs houses.
Provost Anthea Dickson cut the ribbon. But for the pandemic, today’s event would have happened a year or two ago.
NAC Leader, Councillor Marie Burns, Patricia Gibson MP and representatives of both NAC Housing and Ashleigh (Scotland) Ltd who built the houses also participated.
NAC plans to complete 1,625 new council homes by 2027.
Special thanks to tenant Jeanette Dyer, who showed us round her lovely home.
