On Friday I visited St Margaret’s Church Hall in Dalry to see the results of a community survey to concerning local people’s priorities for the Garnock Valley.
Community groups across the Garnock Valley are coming together to produce a plan for community action and public services & facilities, supported by North Ayrshire Council and a specialist team.
The plan will map out future priorities for community action and public investment in Beith, Dalry and Kilbirnie, plus the villages of Barrmill, Burnhouse, Gateside, Glengarnock, Longbar and the surrounding countryside.
The big priorities that emerged were public transport, improving our town centres, more vibrant community life, more jobs and business, more for young people, better maintained streets and spaces, and more responsive decision making
I enjoyed chatting to involved stakeholders including Kate Dickens from North Ayrshire Council (pictured) about how these challenges can be tackled on a local and national level.
If you haven’t done so already, I would also encourage anyone living or working in Beith, Dalry, Kilbirnie and the wider Garnock Valley to take the 2024 Travel Survey.
Your views will help capture the challenges and barriers to travelling to, from and within the Garnock Valley, and to identify potential solutions to ease these challenges.
