Record Inward Investment As SNP Government Prioritises Economic

Under the SNP Government, 2023 saw Scotland secure a record number of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) projects.

For the ninth consecutive year, Scotland is the top performing nation or region of the UK outside London as independent figures showed that 142 FDI projects were secured in 2023 – at a time when Scotland is becoming an increasingly attractive place for business investment.

The independent analysis from EY also showed that Scotland outpaced both the UK and Europe for FDI growth, with Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen were in the top ten cities for FDI projects.

First Minister John Swinney and Deputy First Minister Kate Forbes have made driving economic growth one of their four priorities – and these figures outline that the actions of the SNP Government are delivering on this critical issue.

Commenting, Kenneth Gibson MSP said:

“The SNP is prioritising driving economic growth to enable us to tackle poverty and improve public services – and record inward investment highlights that the actions of the SNP Government are making a real difference.

“Scotland is becoming an increasingly attractive investment destination thanks to the SNP prioritising supporting the energy transition, enabling the development of cutting-edge technologies, and ensuring businesses have access to the skilled labour they require.

“The SNP is focused on delivering economic growth for the people of Scotland and that hard work will continue to ensure that further economic development and high-quality jobs are delivered across Scotland.”
