Last night, I sponsored Revenue Scotland’s Parliamentary Reception which brought together MSPs, the Minister for Community Wealth and Public Finance, Tom Arthur MSP, board members of Revenue Scotland, including Chair Aidan O’Carroll, and distinguished guests of Revenue Scotland (RS).
The event provided the opportunity for Members to hear from key members of RS on their latest Annual Report and discuss how the findings of the report impact RS directly and how it fits within the overall fiscal landscape.
I was convener of the Finance Committee in 2014 when the Revenue Scotland and Tax Powers Act was introduced. This established RS as the first Scotland-wide tax collection system in more than 300 years.
Over the course of the last nine years RS has established itself in the tax landscape of Scotland, as a highly performing, fully digital, modern tax authority for Scotland.
I now look forward to RS giving evidence to the Finance Committee, which I convene, soon.
