Balmichael Water Treatment Works supplies drinking water to communities in the southern half of Arran, including Blackwaterfoot, Brodick, Lamlash, Shiskine and Whiting Bay.
The fault at the Water Treatment Works was resolved around lunchtime yesterday after engineers worked late into Tuesday night and specialists arrived from the mainland yesterday morning. The local water network has since been recovering.
Last night constituents contacted me to say that their supply had not yet been restored. I immediately contacted Scottish Water who advised that tankers were in operation throughput yesterday in an effort to speed up the process of getting water back into the outlying parts of the network – with households in elevated properties, furthest from the Water Treatment Works otherwise likely to be slowest to see their supply return to normal.
All of the storage tanks within the network are now recovering and Scottish Water knows that most customers are receiving water again.
If there are any constituents are still without water now, please contact Scottish Water on 0800 077 8778 so that they can investigate and offer any support needed in the meantime.
Scottish Water apologise, once again, for the disruption Arranachs have experienced. The water supply should return to normal very soon, if not already.
