I was delighted to attend the official opening of 29 new sheltered homes for older people at St Colm’s Gardens, Largs.
The £4.7 million development, backed by a £1.71 million grant from the SNP Government, replaces the old sheltered housing unit on the site and was delivered with the specific needs of older residents in mind - ensuring high-quality homes complemented the communal facilities to support tenants’ wellbeing.
I was happy to join the residents for afternoon tea in their lounge and also had the chance to view some of their lovely homes.
SNP-led North Ayrshire Council has one of the most ambitious house building plans in the country and will complete 1,625 new council homes by 2027.
