Scotland is one step closer to exonerating wrongly convicted sub-postmasters.
The Scottish Parliament backed the general principles of the Post Office (Horizon System) Offences (Scotland) Bill this week.
This emergency SNP Government legislation will quash convictions in Scotland resulting from tainted evidence from the Post Office's Horizon IT system.
Those exonerated will then be able to access the UK government financial compensation scheme.
Astonishingly, even though this grave miscarriage of justice originated under Labour and Tory UK governments, Westminster refused to include Scottish sub-postmasters in the UK-wide legislation.
This is a betrayal of Scotland’s Horizon victims.
Despite this, the SNP Government will ensure that wrongly convicted sub-postmasters in Scotland are exonerated and able to access compensation for their years of suffering.
