NHS Ayrshire & Arran (NHSAA) is receiving a further £13.7 million to meet ongoing costs associated with COVID-19 in the current financial year. This includes funding for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Test and Protect and delivery of COVID-19 vaccinations.
The funding comes on top of a record £774.5 million that was allocated to NHSAA in the 2021/22 budget.
Kenneth Gibson MSP said:
“Handling the coronavirus pandemic has put enormous pressure on NHS budgets and as such, the SNP Government has made additional funding a priority, such as this extra £13.7 million for NHSAA to deal with the pandemic over winter.
“The SNP Government will continue to ensure that our health and care services have the funding that they require to respond to this pandemic, and I look forward to the announcement of further additional support once the detailed Quarter One financial review has been concluded.
“In the meantime, I am grateful for the work everyone at NHSAA does, whether that is caring for those impacted by COVID-19 or resuming more and more services as we emerge from the eye of the storm.”
