On Tuesday night, I attended the Scottish Association of Mental Health (SAMH) Together Through Tough Times event at the Scottish Parliament highlighting the importance of resilient communities when strengthening mental health.
SAMH partnered with the Co-op through their National Charity Partnership, raising £8 million in funding to run community mental health services in 17 local authorities across Scotland, including North Ayrshire.
For example, on the Isle of Arran, the ‘Island Wellbeing Ambassadors’ project was set up to champion community wide conversations on mental health and engage the local community with opportunities to support their own and others wellbeing.
SAMH is working with Arran Youth Foundations to encourage young people to become wellbeing ambassadors through a series of interactive workshops, training and wellbeing activities.
