This morning I visited St Bridget’s Primary School in Kilbirnie to answer questions from Mrs Robertson’s Primary 6 class about the Scottish Parliament, following a kind invitation from pupil Finlay McAllister.
The class is currently studying the Scottish Parliament and the enthusiastic pupils put me through my paces with a host of excellent questions.
To practice debating the class was split into teams. Pupils from the Scottish Education Party (SEP) then debated extending school meals to children in P6 and P7 with the Fab Four Party.
It was a clear win for the SEP!
Visiting schools and speaking to children and staff is one of the highlights of being an MSP.
I thank Mrs Robertson, Student Teacher Ms Diamond and the pupils for their warm welcome and the children for such a high level of engagement.
