Dalry Burns Club Bicentenary Celebrations

I was delighted to attend a special concert in St Margaret's Parish Church, Dalry as part of the 200th anniversary of Dalry Burns Club, last Friday, 07 March.

While not the world’s oldest Dalry is the one with the greatest continuity over two centuries.

Over 350 locals were entertained, first by the club’s own choir, the children of Dalry Primary School – who entertained us with a host of Burns’ and other poems – and then the club’s band.

The second half of the concert featured ‘The Twa Fiddles’ of internationally renowned musicians Alistair McCulloch and Pete Clark, playing on instruments dating back to the 18th century.

The event has been backed by the National Trust for Scotland, owner of one of the fiddles.

The evening was a joy from start to finish, with a great atmosphere.

I would like to wish Dalry Burns Club the very best for their bicentennial and their next two hundred years.
